The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has served a notice to the Govt. of Telangana owing to the reported suicide by 18 students who failed in inter examinations.
Taking suo motu cognisance of media reports on the matter, the Commission has asked the govt to submit a detailed report on the matter. The government has been asked to come out with a reason within four weeks.
It is to be noted that of the eight lakh who appeared for the exams, a staggering three lakh students had failed.
To give a background, Innumerable errors in the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) results announced on April 18 had triggered tension in the State with students and parents staging protests.
