Despite a tough global hiring landscape, IIT Kharagpur has delivered a stellar performance in the 2024–25 placement season. The institute has crossed 1,800 job offers, including 409 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) and 25 international placements, underscoring its consistent appeal to top recruiters across industries.
Among the many highlights, nine students secured annual packages exceeding Rs 1 crore, with the highest package touching Rs 2.14 crore. These premium offers have come from leading multinational corporations, signaling strong industry confidence in the institute’s talent pool, curriculum, and innovation ecosystem.
A Fast Start to the Season
The placement drive kicked off on an impressive note, with over 800 offers made within the first two days. By the end of Day 3, total offers had surpassed the 1,000 mark — a clear sign of sustained demand for IIT Kharagpur graduates across a wide range of roles.
Diverse Opportunities Across Sectors
So far, more than 400 companies have participated in the recruitment process, hiring students across domains such as:
- Software and IT
- Data analytics
- Finance and consulting

Professor Rajib Maity, Chairperson of the Career Development Centre, attributed the success to a coordinated institutional effort. “These outcomes reflect our focused approach in preparing students for dynamic industry roles. Echoing this sentiment, Professor Amit Patra, Director of IIT Kharagpur, emphasized the strategic alignment of the institute’s academic vision with global industry needs. “This record-setting placement season is a defining moment for us. We are continuously updating our curriculum, strengthening interdisciplinary learning, and leveraging our alumni network to ensure our students are equipped to lead in a rapidly evolving technological world,” he noted.
