Indian Institute of Delhi (IITD) will now allow students of National Institutes of Technology (NITs) to take admission to its PhD programmes without having to appear for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
The institute will sign MoU with some NITs in the initial phase of the new admission policy.
This shall begin from the academic year 2020-21.
As passing criteria a student must obtain a minimum CGPA of 8.
According to reports, V Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT D said, “Teaching and examination pattern of IITs and NITs is very similar. Thus, the quality of students does not vary too much. The new policy would help us in attracting the right research talent and improve the overall research ecosystem.”
