Five students have been expelled at NIT Warangal and two others have been suspended as a part of the disciplinary action in relation to the clash between two groups near the institute recently.
This action was initiated by the administration against the alleged students for instigating a violent clash between the two groups while an annual fest near the institute’s stadium was going on March 11. A final year student of B.Tech was stabbed in the ‘ghastly incident’.
All seven accused (all MSc students) has been subjected to the disciplinary action according to relevant sections of PG (Science and Management) Rules and Regulations of the Institute. After their involvement was proved following an inquiry conducted by an Enquiry Committee and also based on the findings of the Deans’ Committee, the senior committee officials told.
“The competent authority of the Institute, after going through the Report of the Enquiry Committee as well as the findings of the Deans Committee, is fully convinced and agrees to conclude on the involvement of seven students of the Institute in the ghastly incident that took place on March 11”, a statement issued by the Registrar NIT, Warangal said.
