Which are the recent initiatives of NSDL e-Governance?
NSDL e-Governance (NSDL e-Gov) works closely with various Government agencies for designing, managing and implementing e-Governance Projects. Recently, we have launched three initiatives to ease the process of getting loans – Vidya Lakshmi, Vidyasaarathi and Vidya Kaushal.
Vidya Lakshmi:
Vidya Lakshmi is a first of its kind portal for students seeking Education Loan. This portal has been developed under the guidance of the Department of Financial Services, (Ministry of Finance) , Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Human Resource Development) and Indian Banks Association (IBA). Students can view, apply and track the education loan applications to banks anytime, anywhere by accessing the portal. The portal also provides linkages to National Scholarship Portal.
Vidyasaarathi:
Vidyasaarathi is a technology-enabled initiative by NSDL e-Gov to bridge the gap in education finance in the country through an online platform. Students can search and apply for various education finance schemes they are qualified for. Vidyasaarathi can be used by fund providers, industries and corporate entities to promote skill development by designing and managing education finance schemes using this platform to disburse their CSR fund in higher education.
Vidya Kaushal:
Vidya Kaushal is a first of its kind platform developed to enable any Indian individual to apply for financial assistance/loan to pursue Skill development training courses. The unique skill platform aims to provide truly seamless access to skill loan funding aligned with the national vision of developing a skilled India, creating greater employment opportunities and employable skills.
What is the idea behind Vidyasaarathi?
Vidyasaarathi is as a user-friendly, transparent and demand-driven platform which will help the corporate sector in playing a positive role in developing education finance for the Indian society at large. It proposes to effectively bring together various stakeholders in the education ecosystem. The solution is helping in managing the entire online scholarship application lifecycle i.e. submission and review of scholarship application, awarding scholarship, disbursement of funds and renewal of scholarships. Vidyasaarathi aspires to empower the fund providers as well as students to develop an ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders.
In Vidyasaarathi, how many corporates have already joined? Please name a few.
So far, 23 corporates have collaborated with Vidyasaarathi. The list includes some renowned names from the corporate world such as TATA Housing, TransUnion CIBIL, Alkem Laboratories, ACC limited, JSW Foundation, Claris Lifesciences, etc.
How does a corporate benefit from Vidyasaarathi?
Vidyasaarathi helps in the effective deployment of education CSR funds of corporate in line with the provisions of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. From identifying the students, then the entire process of validation, the process of scholarship disbursement to the deserving candidate etc. everything is managed by NSDL e-Governance through Vidyasaarathi empanelled trust/ foundation
How many students have benefited from Vidyasaarathi?
Till now more than 8,50,000 students have registered on the portal and around 3800 deserving students have received scholarship.
How much amount has been disbursed through Vidyasaarathi?
Around Rs. 7 crores have been disbursed through Vidyasaarathi through scholarships.
