The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the exam schedule for JEE Main 2026, confirming that the engineering entrance test will be held in two sessions – the first in January 2026 and the second in April 2026.
According to the official notice, the first session of JEE Main will be conducted between January 21 and 30, 2026, while the second session is tentatively scheduled from April 1 to 10, 2026.
The registration process for the January session will begin in October 2025 on the official website – jeemain.nta.ac.in
In an effort to simplify the registration process, the NTA will now auto-fetch key applicant details directly from the Aadhaar database. This includes the candidate’s name, date of birth, gender, photograph, and address, as verified by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
Officials said this change will help reduce manual entry errors and make the application process more efficient.
The agency has also reminded students about its earlier notice from November 6, 2024, which dealt with discrepancies between Aadhaar details and school certificates.
Students who notice mismatches – such as spelling errors or differing names – will be allowed to correct them during the application process. Candidates are therefore advised to verify their Aadhaar and Class 10 certificate details beforehand.
MORE EXAM CITIES AND ACCESSIBILITY
To accommodate the growing number of applicants, the NTA plans to expand the number of JEE Main exam cities across India. This expansion aims to ensure better accessibility for students, particularly those in remote regions.
The agency has also confirmed special provisions for candidates with disabilities (PwD/PwBD) to make the examination process more inclusive.

In 2025, JEE Main was also held in two sessions – January 22 to 30 and April 2 to 8 – continuing the two-phase pattern that will now extend into 2026.
