The Odisha government plans to select at least 300 tribal students, from whom 50 will be chosen through a rigorous screening process. These shortlisted candidates, primarily women, will undergo preparatory pilot training to equip them for a professional aviation course, an official confirmed on Sunday.
To facilitate this initiative, the state’s Commerce and Transport Department has issued a tender to appoint a specialized agency to conduct the training. According to the tender document, the selected agency will be responsible for identifying eligible students and shortlisting 50 candidates through a structured evaluation process.
The final group of 50 students will undergo an intensive eight-week training program in Bhubaneswar. The course will comprehensively cover all aspects required for the airline cadet pilot assessment, which are –
- English Language Proficiency
- Personality Development
- Self-Improvement
- Aviation Fundamentals
- Human Performance And Limitations
- Aptitude Tests
- Psychometric Evaluations
- Group Discussions
- Interview Preparation.
Additionally, the program will feature portable simulator training to enhance hand-eye-foot coordination and spatial orientation.
The private agency will conduct training sessions for six hours a day, five days a week, over the eight-week period. The curriculum will include self-directed study, computer-based learning, and mock exams. The official added that periodic assessments will be conducted after each module, and students who need additional support will receive specialized weekend training.
Upon completing the preparatory course, the 50 students will participate in a final selection process conducted by private airlines, including Air India and IndiGo. These airlines will administer their own evaluations and select the top 10 students for advanced technical training, further preparing them to become professional pilots.
