On April 8, 2019, the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) will be declaring India Rankings 2019 and the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind will declare the rankings as per the sources. On the basis of teaching, learning & resources, research & professional practices, outreach & inclusivity, graduation outcomes & perception the NIRF India ranking is done.
On September 29, 2015, the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has been approved by the MHRD and launched by the Minister of Human Resource Development. The parameters covered are:
- Teaching
- Learning and Resources
- Research and Professional Practices
- Graduation Outcomes
- Outreach and Inclusivity
- And Perception
The various categories included for ranking are Nine categories like Overall, Universities, Colleges, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture, Engineering and Law.
As per NIRF ranking 2018 the top 10 universities:
- Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru- Rank 1
- Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi- Rank 2
- Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi- Rank 3
- Anna University, Chennai- Rank 4
- University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad- Rank 5
- Jadavpur University, Kolkata- Rank 6
- University of Delhi, Delhi- Rank 7
- Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore- Rank 8
