The eagerly awaited COVID-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University is going to be tested on humans. Scientists say that there’s 80% chance of success.
The vaccine being trialed is made from harmless chimpanzee virus that has been genetically engineered to carry a part of the Corona virus to be tested on volunteers aged between 18-55 who are in good health.
The UK govt has pledged 20 million pounds to support the vaccine trial programme.
The UK health secretary Matt Hancock said that the govt would go to any heights to find a vaccine against the deadly virus.
Volunteers in the UK are being offered 625 pounds to take part in the landmark research.
The vaccine project is headed by Prof Sarah Gilbert and other immunity scientists.
