It has been the norm of the private medical college to ask for bank guarantee for upcoming years of studies for PG medical students. For instance, after the first round of counselling, PG medical seats were allotted to students and were asked to submit academic certificates.
Students were asked to pay the first-year fee of ₹3.5 lakh in the form of a Demand Draft and submit a bank guarantee for 2nd and 3rd-year course. This totally summed up as 7 lakhs.
However, as per Government 41 and 43 issued by the State Health and Family Welfare Department, the management of private unaided minority and non-minority medical colleges may seek bank guarantee for the tuition fee for the entire course. However, orders does not mention the duration within which the guarantee is to be submitted.
So, the move of not asking for the bank guarantee for the second and third-year course could help financially weaker backgrounds.
