The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme offers a unique opportunity for the youth, enhancing their job prospects. The scheme, is set to launch in December 2024, will provide 1.25 lakh internships across sectors.
By offering practical hands-on experience and exposure to the real-world the scheme aims to bridge the gap between education and employment. The application registration opens from October 12 to October 25, 2024.
As part of the initiative announced in the Union Budget, this program will create 1.25 lakh internships this year.
Eligibility:
- Indian citizens aged 21-24 years are eligible.
- Full-time employees and students in regular full-time education cannot apply.
- Education qualifications include high school, ITI certificates, diplomas, or degrees like BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, BCA, or BPharma.
- Graduates from institutes such as IITs or IIMs and those with higher professional qualifications (CA, CMA, MBBS) are not eligible.
Internship Details:
- The internship spans 12 months, with a minimum of six months of hands-on work experience.
- A stipend of ₹5,000 per month will be provided, of which ₹4,500 comes from the government and ₹500 from the companies via CSR funds.
- An additional one-time grant of ₹6,000 for incidental expenses will be provided upon joining.
Timeline:
- Company selections: October 27 – November 7, 2024
- Offer letters: November 8 – November 15, 2024
- Start date: December 2, 2024
