Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the centennial foundation celebration of Lucknow University. The Prime Minister urged the youth to work towards being introspective and self-confident, highlighting that this was also the goal of the New Education Policy 2020 announced earlier this year. He also mentioned about the implementation of NEP 2020 by India’s 75th year of independence. Among the other attendees of the event were Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
PM Modi who attended the event at Lucknow University by means of video conferencing saif that the aim of NEP 2020 is that India’s youth gets to know itself. Adding that self-confidence is born out of freedom of deciding for oneself along with flexibility, the PM said a mind and body in chains cannot show productivity. He also urged the teachers and the students of the University to thoroughly discuss and argue over the New Education Policy and also work towards its speedy implementation. He further added that NEP 2020 will become a part of India’s education policy in letter and spirit by the time the country completes its 75th year of independence.
Citing the example of Modern Rail Coach Factory near Rae Bareli, PM Modi talked about achieving one’s potential. He said that the factory had the capability to build rail coaches did not work to its full potential. He further added that the approach was changed after 2014 and as a result, the factory rolled out its first rail coach within few months and since then every year hundreds of coaches are being manufactured by it. He emphasized that this is an example of potential utilised in the right manner.
In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister said that one must be positive in thought and possibility while approaching a problem. He then went on to release a commemorative coin and a postal stamp to mark the centennial foundation day of the university.
