Government has proposed the educational qualifications and desired experience for candidates applying for the post of Vice-Chancellor of the Tamil University in Thanjavur to streamline the selection of Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu University.
“We have recently notified the educational qualifications and experience [required] for candidates to be considered for the post of the Vice-Chancellor of the Tamil University. The Selection Committee will choose the V-C through the laid down procedure,” said Tamil Development Minister and the university’s Pro-Chancellor, R. Pandiarajan to a leading media source.
According to the office notification, every candidate should be a PhD in a Tamil or a subject related to Tamil with at least 20 years of experience. In case the eligibility criteria are not met, the applicant should have 10 years of experience as a university professor, with no less than six years of administrative experience in universities or in postgraduate colleges at positions such as the Dean, or the Head of the Department.
