The placement season for the 2024-25 academic year has kicked off successfully at IIT Delhi, with over 1,200 job offers, including pre-placement offers (PPOs), extended to students. The Office of Career Services (OCS) reports that around 1,150 unique students have been selected, underscoring the institute’s standing as a talent powerhouse.
This year’s placements saw contributions from numerous top recruiters, many of whom made multiple offers. Leading companies include American Express, Barclays, BCG, Google, Intel India, Microsoft, Oracle, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and more. Additionally, IIT Delhi students received more than 50 international offers from prestigious organizations across Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Taiwan, the UAE, the UK, and the US.
Prof. Naresh Varma Datla, Professor-in-Charge of OCS, expressed optimism about the ongoing placement season, noting that the institute is expanding the range of companies and roles to cater to the diverse student body. Prof. Suresh Neelakantan, Co-Professor-in-Charge, OCS, praised the students and recruiters for their collaboration and efforts, emphasizing the high-quality talent at IIT Delhi.
The placement process, which continues through the semester, involves both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The success of the placement season can be attributed to the teamwork of the OCS staff, student coordinators, volunteers, and industry partners.
At IIT Kanpur, the first phase of placements for the 2024-25 batch also saw impressive results, with 1,109 job offers made between December 1 and 15. International offers increased by 27%, with significant growth in core industry placements. BPCL emerged as a key recruiter among Public Sector Undertakings. Over 250 companies participated, including names like Microsoft, Google, Oracle, and Qualcomm. The second phase of placements is expected to continue the momentum in January 2025.
