Professors of universities and colleges, in Bihar are likely to receive revised University Grants Commission UGC pay scales. On 2 November, Union HRD Ministry ordered UGC to revise pay of teachers and equivalent cadres in universities and colleges. Considering the recommendations made by Pay Review Committee constituted by the UGC, the ministry took this decision.
For different categories of teachers, the revised pay structure would follow the Seventh Central Pay Commission, moving from the concept of Pay Band and Academic Grade Pay (AGP) to that of Academic Levels and Cells.
According to the latest reports, there could be two dates for grant of increment, most probably 1 January and 1 July of every year. Depending on the date of appointment a teacher shall be entitled to only one annual increment on either one of these two dates.
