The Rhodes Trust has officially opened applications for the Rhodes Scholarship for India 2026, offering Indian students a prestigious opportunity to pursue fully funded, full-time postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford.
This globally renowned scholarship is awarded to exceptional students who demonstrate outstanding intellect, leadership, character, and commitment to service. Each year, six Indian scholars are selected for the award, which supports two to three years of academic study at Oxford, depending on the chosen course.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must be:
- Aged between 18 and 23 years, or up to 27 years in certain circumstances.
- Indian citizens (PIOs and OCIs are not eligible).
- Graduates with an excellent academic record.
- Committed to making a positive impact in the world.

Application Process:
Prospective candidates must apply for the Rhodes Scholarship before applying to their preferred course at Oxford.
There is no application fee, and all submissions must be completed online. Shortlisted candidates will later be supported in applying to the University of Oxford through the official graduate application process, with guidance from Rhodes House.
Required Documents:
Candidates must upload digital copies of the following documents (in English or accompanied by certified translations). Originals may be requested during verification:
- Birth certificate or valid passport
- Indian passport (PIO/OCI cards are not accepted)
- Academic transcripts from university/college
- Class 10 and 12 marksheets
- Recent passport-size photograph (JPG format)
- A completed CV section within the application form (detailing academics, leadership roles, extracurriculars, community service, and awards)
For applicants not currently studying in India:
- Proof of at least four years of formal education in India within the last 10 years
- Proof of completion of Class 10 or 12 in India
