In a significant move to bolster its technical workforce, the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced a large-scale recruitment drive for 6,180 Technician positions across various Indian Railways zones for the 2025–26 cycle. A brief notification was published in the Employment News on 16 June, while the comprehensive advertisement (CEN 02/2025) is expected by 27 June. Online applications will commence from 28 June and close at 11:59 PM on 28 July.
Vacancy Breakdown and Selection Process
Out of the total vacancies, 180 posts are allocated to Technician Grade 1 Signal, and 6,000 to Technician Grade 3. The selection process will include a Computer-Based Test (CBT), document verification, and a medical fitness test. This is a valuable opportunity for aspirants aiming to join Indian Railways, particularly those who missed out in previous cycles.
Eligibility Criteria
* Technician Grade 1 Signal: Applicants must possess a BSc in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, IT, or Instrumentation, or a Diploma/Degree in Engineering in relevant disciplines.
* Technician Grade 3: Candidates must have passed Class 10 (SSLC/Matriculation) and completed an ITI or Apprenticeship in trades like Foundryman, Moulder, Pattern Maker, or Forger and Heat Treater.
Age Limits (as on 1 July 2025)
* Technician Grade 1 Signal: 18 to 33 years
* Technician Grade 3: 18 to 30 years
Relaxation in age will apply to candidates from reserved categories as per government norms.
Application Fee Details
* Rs 250: For SC/ST, Ex-servicemen, PwD, Women, Transgender, Minorities, and EBC (fully refundable upon appearing in CBT)
* Rs 500: For others (Rs 400 refundable upon appearing in CBT)
Pay Scale and Benefits
* Technician Grade 1 Signal: Pay Level 5 – ₹29,200/month
* Technician Grade 3: Pay Level 2 – ₹19,900/month
Both roles include benefits as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
