Saint Louis University (SLU), a renowned Catholic, Jesuit research university in the United States, has reaffirmed its dedication to global education through a high-profile leadership visit to India, including a strategic meeting with officials from the U.S. Commercial Service (USCS).
SLU representatives met with the USCS principal commercial officer and education lead for India at the U.S. Consulate in Mumbai. The USCS, a branch of the U.S. Department of Commerce, facilitates international partnerships and helps American institutions expand their global influence.
The meeting celebrated two years of collaboration between SLU and USCS, highlighting how partnerships with U.S. universities support India’s ambitious educational objectives while enriching the global perspectives of American campuses.
“We are grateful for the continued partnership with the U.S. Commercial Service,” said Dr Fred P. Pestello, President of SLU. “These discussions reinforce our commitment to expanding SLU’s presence in India and enhancing support for our international students. We look forward to strengthening these relationships and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.”
SLU’s efforts in India have led to a surge in international enrolment, with 3,200 students from over 90 countries currently studying at its campuses in St. Louis, Missouri, and Madrid, Spain.
A notable initiative is the Mumbai 1+1 pathway programme, enabling students to complete the first year of their master’s degree at Mumbai University and the second at SLU. Last August, 55 students commenced studies in Cybersecurity and Analytics through this programme.
“SLU remains committed to global engagement and educational excellence,” said Rob Reddy, SLU’s Interim Vice President for Enrolment Management, during the visit.
