The State Bank of India (SBI) has announced recruitment for 2,964 Circle Based Officer (CBO) positions for the 2025–26 cycle. The openings include 2,600 regular and 364 backlog vacancies, spread across various circles in the country. The application process is underway and will remain open until 29 May 2025 via the official SBI website.
Eligibility and Work Experience
Candidates must hold a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. Professional degree holders in fields such as Engineering, Medicine, or Accountancy are also eligible. Applicants should have a minimum of two years’ experience as an officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank or Regional Rural Bank as of 30 April 2025. Submission of a certified job profile is mandatory.
Age Criteria and Relaxations
The age limit is set between 21 and 30 years as of 30 April 2025. Reserved categories benefit from the following relaxations:
* SC/ST: 5 years
* OBC (NCL): 3 years
* PwBD: 10 years
* Ex-Servicemen: 5 years
Language and Localisation
Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the local language of the chosen circle. Class 10 or 12 mark sheets indicating language proficiency will serve as acceptable proof.
Selection Process
The recruitment process includes three stages:
* Online Test: Objective section (120 marks, 2 hours) and descriptive section (50 marks, 30 minutes)
* Interview: 50 marks; qualifying score needed for final merit
* Language Test: Assessment of local language proficiency
The final merit list will be compiled based on interview marks, category, and circle preference.
Fee and Salary Details
Application fees are ₹750 for General, OBC, and EWS categories. SC, ST, and PwBD candidates are exempt. Payment is accepted through digital modes. Selected candidates will be placed in Junior Management Grade Scale-I with a starting basic pay of ₹48,480. The total pay scale ranges from ₹48,480 to ₹85,920, inclusive of allowances. Those with over two years’ experience are eligible for an additional increment.
