What challenges is the industry facing due to covid?
Education industry especially schools are looking at reworking their models to a blended model of education due to lockdown. Private institutes & training centres have been quick to adopt online teaching. However, only a handful of private schools & institutions could seamlessly switch to online schools. Low-income private and government school counterparts had to shut down or delay the process due to lack of financial funds. Another substantial reason was lack of infrastructure for the educators & students. Laptops & smartphones aren’t accessible to many lower-income groups.
What changes do you think the industry will have to improvise on once things become normal?
A crisis like this is a reminder of being well-rounded and adopt effective educational practice both online as well as offline. Teachers & staffs need to be trained as well as parents should be made aware of the importance of internet connection & Laptop for the capacity-building of young minds.
Schools need to create e-study materials, like a replica of the offline model which will drive the employability, productivity, health, and well-being of young minds.
Blended learning approaches have to be tried & tested much more in order to adopt it. Ed-tech companies who literally revolutionised the face of education in India, need to be more innovative. In terms of the learning experience, teachers must be trained on how to be on camera & deliver the quality. More Online tools must be introduced to make the process seamless.
