In a significant move to bolster research and innovation, Shoolini University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AWaDH (Technology Innovation Hub) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Ropar. This strategic collaboration will launch a joint Minor Programme in Artificial Intelligence, aimed at promoting translational research, technology transfer, and interdisciplinary skill development.
The MoU was formally signed by Prof. Prem Kumar Khosla, Chancellor of Shoolini University, and Dr. Pushpendra P. Singh, Dean of Research and Development and Project Director at IIT Ropar’s iHub-AWaDH. A central initiative under this agreement is the establishment of a Cyber Physical System (CPS) Laboratory, envisioned as a centre for advanced research and hands-on learning.
Designed to meet industry-specific challenges and societal needs, the CPS Lab will focus on experiential education across emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Augmented and Virtual Reality, Data Science, Robotics, Generative AI, and Multi-Sensory Systems. This initiative will benefit students from Grade 11 to postgraduate levels.
The cornerstone of this collaboration is the AI + X Minor Programme, carrying 15 academic credits. Developed with a ‘Learning by Practice’ approach, the course will be jointly certified by Shoolini University and IIT Ropar. The ‘X’ element underlines the programme’s interdisciplinary reach, allowing integration with areas like Agriculture, Biotechnology, and Management.
Prof. Khosla expressed confidence in the initiative’s potential to foster innovation, noting that both institutions share a “hunger for excellence.” Dr. Singh highlighted the programme’s affordability, relevance, and future scalability, developed in collaboration with NSDC and Masai.
This partnership not only supports India’s ambitions in the AI sector but also enhances students’ employability by aligning academic learning with real-world technological demands.
