The Sona SPEED (Sona Special Power Electronics and Electric Drives) division of Sona College of Technology, Salem, engineered the essential magnet stepper motors for the mixture control actuator, utilized in the cryogenic stage of the launch vehicle. According to SRR Senthil Kumar, Principal of Sona College of Technology, the Sona research team diligently adhered to the process during the design and manufacturing of this crucial equipment.
According to the college, research grants totaling millions were received from the Department of Space and Technology, IBM, and the National Technical Textile Mission in the current academic year. Previously, Sona College of Technology students, along with five other colleges, participated in the development of a student satellite that was successfully launched by ISRO in 2017.
