The left coalition including AISA, SFI, DSF, and AISF has won four central panel and 15 councillor posts in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students’ union elections.
N Sai Balaji of AISA defeated Lalit Pandey (ABVP) by a huge margin of 1,179 votes for the post of president. Sarika Chowdhury of SFI won the vice-president’s post with a 52% vote share. Aezaj Ahmed of DSF and Amrutha Jayadeep of AISF are the new general secretary and joint secretary, respectively.
The resounding victory for left came amid massive voter turnout of 67.8%. The new president hailing from Hyderabad is a Phd student at the school of international studies.
The left won 15 out of 31 councillors, while ABVP and NSUI got One seat each.
