DU Registers 11,000 Admissions in First Cut-Off List, Enrols Six Times More Students Than Last Year
Over 11,000 students have taken admission in over 11,000 in various colleges of the Delhi University after the first cut-off list came out which is almost six times the number of students which took admissions last year, a DU official said. Out of over 56,000 seats, over 11,000 were filled this year. The top five institutes where students took admission were Hindu College with 785 filled seats, Gargi College with 674 filled seats, Miranda College with 628 filled seats, Lady Shri Ram College with 579 filled seats, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh College with 575 filled seats, according to data shared by the varsity.
BA Programme Earns Maximum Interest at DU Suggested First Cut-off List
Last week, University of Delhi released for merit-based undergraduate courses in 2018-19. The highest cut-offs this year were for BA programmes, unlike last year when BA English (Hons) or B.Sc (Hons) witnessed the highest cut-offs. Lady Shri Ram College registered the highest cut-off, 98.75 per cent for BA programme, for the popular English (Hons) course the highest cut-off was 98% at Hindu College, and Delhi College of Arts and Commerce (DCAC) issued a cut-off of 98.50 per cent for BA (Hons) in Journalism.
IIMC Result 2018 Declared
The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) declared its results on Thursday, June 21 for IIMC Entrance Results in 2018 on its official website, iimc.nic.in. The institute had conducted examinations for all courses of journalism in different languages on May 26 and 27. The results are available on ‘Result’ tab on the official website. When a student clicks on course wise results, a PDF sheet is generated with the roll number of the selected candidate.
Admit Card for UGC NET 2018 Released at cbse.nic.in
CBSE (The Central Board of Secondary Education) has released an admit card for UGC NET examination on June 21 for the exam that will be held on July 8, 2018. The admit card can be downloaded from the official website, cbsenet.nic.in. The CBSE conducts National Eligibility Test on the behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to select candidates for the post of assistant professor and for the post of Junior Research Fellowship in Indian universities. Candidates should not be more than 30 years of age on July 1, 2018 to apply for Junior Research Fellowship.
IIT BHU signs MoU with Amazon Web Services Education Program
The Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi signed a memorandum of understanding with Amazon Web Services Education program on June 20. “Amazon is joining hands with IIT (BHU) for giving essentially free services in cloud computing, data sets and new technologies which will empower our students and faculty to do better and focussed research”, told Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar to reporters at the MoU signing at BHU.
National Education Policy by end of 2018, says Union Minister Prakash Javadekar
Last week on Monday, union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the most awaited National Education Policy’s ‘zero draft’ is ready and will be implemented by the end of 2018. “The draft of the policy is ready. We are giving it the final shape,” said Javadekar, who was providing the brief of his ministry’s achievement in last four years to the media. He also denied the allegations that the current government was trying to limit the autonomy of IIMs and other institutes of eminence.
