JU to Work Together with Central Research Institutes
Jadavpur University has received the opportunity of developing direct institutional collaboration with centrally funded research institutes in and around Kolkata, West Bengal.
Not more than ten universities have been selected across the country. The scheme will create opportunities of collaborative research between JU and central institutes in addition to joint supervision of PH.D dissertations by the faculty members of both the institutes.
Sanskriti University Declared Scholarship for J&K students
UP-based Sanskriti University had declared a scholarship of Rs one crore for the students of Jammu and Kashmir on May 29,2018, saying the university has a several new courses with secured recruitment.
“The Sanskriti University has decided to provide opportunity to the students of Jammu and Kashmir to pursue higher education at its Mathura campus and it is for the first time when the varsity is extending admissions to the students of the state,” expressed the Executive Director of the university P C Chabra.
HEI Can Offer Degrees for Online Programmes Now
Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) can currently offer certificate, diploma and degree courses in online mode, together with the regular mode, however, are subjected to certain conditions, stated the government. These rules will be made applicable from the academic session 2018-19.
The regulation began after approval of UGC (Online Courses) Regulations, 2018, by the University Grants Commission.
The statement said only those institutions will be allowed to offer online programmes which have been in existence for at least five years and are accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a valid minimum score of 3.26 on a 4-point scale.
SC Directs NUALS to Attend to Students’ Complaint
Supreme Court has asked NUALS to find a resolution of the objections submitted by students about irregularities in CLAT 2018 examination. NUALS has set up a two-member committee to settle the issues. The SC has also asked the committee to submit the status report of the grievances and redressal before it by May 30. The CLAT 2018 result declaration is scheduled for May 31, 2018.
IIT Bombay Bags Clarivate Analytics India Innovation Award
IIT Bombay has bagged the Clarivate Analytics India Innovation Award 2018 in the Academic Institutions category. The excerpt of the award stated: “IIT Bombay emerges as the top Innovator in the Academic Institution category with the highest number of unique patent families published during 2015-17. In addition they have a healthy performance in the category on the grant success and globalization parameters”
Prof. A.K. Suresh, Deputy Director (Academic and Infrastructural Affairs) received the award on behalf of IIT Bombay.
UGC scraps 100% weight for interview in PhD, MPhil
The University Grants Commission (UGC) rejected interviews, or viva voce, as the only criterion for admission to Ph.D and M.Phil courses.The UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/ Ph.D Degree) Regulations 2016 to give 70 per cent weightage to written entrance exam and 30 per cent to the oral interview.
