Uber is rolling out a new feature where the app will show specific alerts. These alerts in the form of messages — asking the riders to check the license plate, make and model of the vehicle. This is to keep the riders safe, following the killing of a South Carolina college student. She had got into a wrong car she mistook for her Uber ride.
Tony West, Uber’s chief legal and security officer, quoted that the company’s app will push alerts to confirm it’s the correct person picking them up. Uber app will also prominently display new safety notifications.
