The University Grants Commission (UGC) on March 5, 2024 released the list of central universities that have been granted Graded Autonomy under University Grants Commission (Categorization of Universities (only) for Grant of Graded Autonomy) Regulations, 2018. Universities listed under the category 1 are Central University of Rajasthan, Central Sanskrit University, University of Delhi and Central University of South Bihar.
Central universities under the category 2 are University of Hyderabad, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Central University of Punjab and Central University of Himachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the Commission directed the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to refund the fees of the students who have migrated to different institutes. The commission had earlier, too, requested institutes to allow a full refund of the college fees within a specified period to opt for a course they choose.
