University Grant Commission (UGC) is going to scan PhD thesis submitted in the past 10 years as decided by the apex body to review them in view of degrading research quality in the higher education.
University Grant Commission a notification in May stated that the “The scope of study will involve PhD thesis in different disciplines in various central universities, state universities, state private universities and deemed-to-be universities in the past 10 years,” as per the notification, calling for proposals to conduct the study, which will be completed over the next six months.
The research will be take place pan – India, its results will be released national and state wise as to the nature of PhD proposition, demonstrating the quality-perspectives proposed by those intrigued to lead the research.
University Grants Commission has also advised research scholars not to publish papers in dubious/predatory journals. In perspective on expanded occurrences of bargained publication morals and weakening scholastic uprightness, UGC set up a consortium for scholarly and research ethics to recognize, screen and keep up ‘UGC-CARE reference rundown of value diaries’.
“Unethical practices leading to ‘pay and publish trash’ culture needs to be thwarted immediately,” read a circular issued earlier this month.
With instant effect, all researchers have been told to utilize only publications from the list of journal provided by UGC.
