The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has launched an internship programme designed for students and recent graduates, offering them a platform to gain practical experience in a global work environment. This initiative enables participants to develop skills, build professional networks, enhance their resumes, and advance their careers.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the UNESCO internship programme, candidates must meet the following requirements:
– Be currently enrolled in a graduate programme, such as a Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent (second university degree or higher), or have recently graduated within the last 12 months.
– Be at least 20 years old at the time of application.
– Applicants who have completed a full-time bachelor’s degree but are not enrolled in a graduate programme are not eligible.
– Those applying for secretarial, assistant, technical, or professional assignments must be in their final year of study at a specialised institution or have graduated within the past 12 months.
Internship Duration and Stipend
The internship lasts between one and six months. However, UNESCO does not provide any financial remuneration or compensation to interns.
Application Process and Key Instructions
Interested candidates must ensure their contact details remain valid for at least six months. The application form can be submitted in English or French. If supporting documents are in a different language, an unofficial translation into English or French is required. Due to high application volumes, UNESCO will not respond to every applicant. If selected, the hiring manager will directly contact the candidate. If no response is received within six months, it indicates an unsuccessful application.
