Delhi University on Tuesday confirmed 74,108 seat allocations for its 71,600 undergraduate seats. This includes 764 seats under the new supernumerary quota for single girl child applicants. Additionally, the university has admitted 132 orphaned students under another supernumerary quota introduced last year to support COVID-19 affected children.
The university announced the seat allocations for the third round of admissions, which began on August 31. The single girl child quota reserves one seat per program in every DU college, while the orphan quota reserves one seat each for a male and a female student in each program.
Out of the total confirmed students so far, 28,810 applicants have requested an upgrade to pursue a preferred college and course combination. Other 45,298 applicants have chosen to freeze their admission for accepting their current allocations.
In this phase of admissions, offers will be made through performance-based programs and supernumerary quotas, including those for children of armed forces widows and for special achievements in extracurricular activities and sports.
According to the data released by the university, 1,061 seats were allocated under the ECA quota, 1,648 under the sports quota, and 332 under performance-based criteria.
