The University of Surrey will open an International Branch Campus (IBC) in GIFT City, Gujarat, India. It is partnering with GGS to make this happen. The campus will focus on business, international finance, computer science, and cybersecurity. GGS will assist with India market entry, student enrolment, and campus operations.
University of Surrey faculty will lead all academic programs. To discuss the next steps, Professor G.Q. Max Lu, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Surrey, and GGS representatives will meet officials from the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) in GIFT City on January 31.
This project supports India’s goal of expanding higher education and becoming a global knowledge hub. It also strengthens UK-India educational ties. The British High Commission and British Council are actively involved. The UK government is eager to promote scientific research and economic collaboration between both countries.
Professor Lu and Dr. Sharad Mehra, Regional CEO – Asia and Australia of Global University Systems (GUS) Asia Pacific, announced this initiative. They made the announcement during the QS India Summit 2025 in Goa, according to an official statement.
