The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on March 5, 2024 extended the registration deadline for Civil Services Examinations (CSE) 2024. As per the official announcement, the last date for registration has been extended till March 6 (6 pm). Eligible and interested candidates can apply online at the official website, upsconline.nic.in. The UPSC CSE prelims exam would be held on May 26, 2024 and the mains exams are set to be held from September 20 for five days.
While the Commission notified 1,056 vacancies for the civil services exam in 2024, the number saw a decline from last year’s 1105 vacancies, while it was 712 in 2021 and 796 in 2020.
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the 1st of August, 2024. A candidate, according to UPSC, must hold a graduate degree from any of the universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification to become eligible for UPSC CSE 2024 exam.
The UPSC CSE exam is held in three stages — prelims, mains and the personality test. UPSC CSE preliminary exam would be consisting of objective-type questions. Candidates scoring above the cut-off marks would become eligible to register for the UPSC IAS Main examination. The CSE Mains exam would be followed by an interview round for the selection of candidates for the various services and posts.
