US Universities to verify TOEFL test scores via Indian collaborators -

American universities will now have the option to verify TOEFL test scores via their Indian study-abroad collaborators, as announced by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) headquartered in Princeton. ETS, renowned for conducting exams such as TOEFL and GRE, has teamed up with Career Mosaic, a prominent student recruitment agency for US universities in South Asia, to verify scores. This collaboration ensures that US universities will receive validated scores, which will greatly boost the reliability of student profiles submitted to them. Moreover, it is anticipated that this initiative will streamline the student enrollment process by reducing administrative burdens for US universities.

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a standardized exam used to assess the English language skills of non-native speakers who seek admission to English-speaking universities. Recognized by over 12,000 institutions across 160 countries, it is widely accepted in popular study destinations like the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as by over 98 percent of UK universities.

Sachin Jain, the country manager for ETS India and South Asia, declared that they are thrilled to collaborate with Career Mosaic to verify TOEFL scores for applicants to US universities, thereby enhancing the university’s trust in the submitted marks. This collaboration highlights the shared dedication of both organizations to provide universities with reliable and efficient solutions for evaluating the English proficiency of prospective students.

Last year, that is in 2023, ETS implemented several changes to the 60-year-old test to enhance the test-taking experience. These changes included reducing the test duration to less than two hours from three and allowing candidates to view their official score release date upon completing the test.

Manisha Zaveri, the joint managing director at Career Mosaic, highlighted that the TOEFL score verification services provided by ETS through Career Mosaic in India have the potential to greatly improve the reliability of student profiles submitted to US institutions. This collaboration will strengthen the trustworthiness of TOEFL test scores, benefiting both universities and the increasing number of Indian students aspiring for higher education opportunities in the USA.

Blerina Polovina, director of international admissions and business development at Webster University USA, expressed her enthusiasm for the advancement, noting that the validation of TOEFL scores will simplify the admission process for universities, leading to quicker student enrollment. Polovina said that having validated scores will eliminate the need for universities to verify English proficiency scores, resulting in a smoother and more dependable admissions process for both students and universities.
