Uttar Pradesh initiates 9 medical colleges and several other development projects and PM Modi will be on visit to the UP state on Monday to launch medical colleges and later will initiate “Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana” in Varanasi.
In a statement from PMO, PM Modi will also inaugurate various infrastructure projects in the poll-bound state worth more than Rs 5,200 crore. The PMO sources also mentioned that the Prime Minister Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana (PMASBY) will be one of the massive scale scheme in India for bolstering healthcare infrastructure, along with the National Health Mission.
The move will facilitate better public health infrastructure across the state, especially in the rural districts. In addition, it will establish and support critical care services, primary care units, and wellness centres in several state districts.
The intended public healthcare infrastructure will provide a full range of diagonistic services through a well integrated nework of public health labs across the country. Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Siddharthnagar, Etah, Hardoi, Ghazipur, Mirzapur and Jaunpur of UP will have the 9 medical colleges.
As per the sources from PMO, 157 new medical colleges have been sanctioned across the country, in which 63 are already operational and are approved under the centrally sponsored scheme.
