While attending the ‘Vishwa Guru Bharat: Exploring the Glorious Past, Promoting Present and the future Roadmap’ seminar on Thursday, Shantishree Dhulipadi Pandit, the Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University mentioned that holistic education was a part of the indigenous education and cultural system and students should be introduced to it. She also added that Indians hail from a civilisation whose narrative, unlike that of Abrahamic civilisations, was feminist.
The workshop was attended by the Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh, in collaboration with Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswavidyalayam and SVU. The seminar was also attended by Alok Pandey, the national in-charge of SHoDH and Abhishek Tondon, the deputy director of ICSSR. They mentioned “Holistic nature of the knowledge is very important. There you would need a philosophy of knowledge of science and technology and a social construct.
The VC also urged professors and students to view education as holistic as the Indian education system has always been of that nature and also encouraged people to form a bond with it. “We have a concept of ‘ardhnarishwar’ where women and men are both equals. “We have a continuous civilisation. Our tradition was scientific. We are not anti-science. We are not anti-science. Science technology, scientific temper is part of our tradition,” she mentioned.
