Vuppala Prraneeth from Hyderabad, Telangana, after a stunning performance, in the ongoing Biel International Chess Festival, earned his second Grandmaster (GM) norm. Norms can only be achieved after a player fulfils the strict criteria laid out by Federation Internationale des Echecs (FIDE) or International Chess Federation. A player can qualify for grandmaster after achieving two GM norms. Now that the fifteen year old boy has two GM norms under his belt, he can qualify for grandmaster.
Prraneeth won with six points from nine rounds collected 21 Elo rating points which took his rating to 2457. In an impressive victory, Prraneeth won against Russia’s Grandmaster Aleekseenko Kirill.
