The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) is offering an internship programme exclusively for women aged 21 to 40, including students, teachers, scholars, and social activists. The initiative aims to provide hands-on experience with policies and schemes for women and children, while encouraging participants to contribute research-based inputs for policy formulation.
The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) is inviting applications for its internship programme designed exclusively for women. In a written reply during the Lok Sabha’s Monsoon session, the Ministry said the initiative is open to women students, teachers, scholars, and social activists aged between 21 and 40 years.
The programme aims to give participants first-hand exposure to the Ministry’s schemes and policies related to women and children. Selected interns will work on pilot projects and micro-studies connected to ongoing activities.
At the end of their tenure, they will be expected to submit inputs for policymaking in the form of analytical reports, research papers, or empirical studies with the goal of closing information gaps on key social issues.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE MWCD INTERNSHIP
- Visit the official internship portal at wcd.intern.nic.in
- Apply within the first 10 days of the month preceding your preferred batch (for example, submit between June 1–10 for the August–September cycle)
- Prepare a Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a Statement of Purpose (SOP) detailing your interest in women’s and children’s welfare
- Complete the online application form and upload both your CV and SOP
CATEGORIES AND SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants are divided into two categories:
Working: Teachers, scholars, and social activists.
Non-working: Students currently enroled in undergraduate or postgraduate courses.
The Ministry ensures regional and socio-economic diversity, selecting interns from rural and urban areas across all six zones– North, South, East, West, Central, and North-East. Women from non-metro cities and rural backgrounds are actively encouraged to apply.
PROGRAMME SCHEDULE AND DURATION
The internship runs in four batches each financial year:
- May–June
- August–September
- November–December
- February–March
Each batch spans two months and accommodates up to 20 interns. Participants may also be assigned additional pilot projects or studies during their term.
