The Teachers Recruitment Board (TN TRB), Tamil Nadu, is inviting online applications from eligible candidates for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) – Paper I and Paper II for the year 2025. The application process, which opened on August 11, will close on September 8 (5 pm). The official website to register for TNTET 2025 is trb.tn.gov.in.
The TET, conducted under the provisions of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 (RTE Act), aims to certify the minimum qualifications required for appointment as a teacher in classes 1 to 8. There is no upper age limit for applicants, but candidates must be at least 18 years old as of July 1, 2025.
After the closure of the TN TET 2025 application form, the edit option for submitted applications will be available from September 9 to September 11, 2025. The examination for TNTET Paper I is tentatively scheduled to be held on November 1, and Paper II will be held on November 2.
The TNTET Paper I, intended for teaching classes I to V, will comprise 150 multiple-choice questions, each carrying a total of 1 mark. The duration of the examination will be three hours, and it will be conducted in an OMR-based format.
All sections in Paper I are compulsory. The subjects include child development and pedagogy, relevant to the age group of 6 to 11 years, with 30 questions for 30 marks, Language I (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, or Urdu) with 30 questions for 30 marks, Language II (English) with 30 questions for 30 marks, mathematics with 30 questions for 30 marks, and environmental studies with 30 questions for 30 marks.
For the subjects child development and pedagogy, mathematics, and environmental studies, candidates must select the medium of the question paper as either Tamil or English.
TNTET Paper II, meant for teaching classes VI to VIII, will comprise 150 multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 150 marks. The exam duration will be three hours, and it will be conducted in an OMR-based format.
The compulsory sections include child development and pedagogy relevant to the age group of 11 to 14 years with 30 questions for 30 marks, Language I (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, or Urdu) with 30 questions for 30 marks, and Language II (English) with 30 questions for 30 marks.
The final section, carrying 60 marks, will vary based on the subject the candidate intends to teach. For mathematics and science teachers, it will consist of mathematics and science questions; for social science teachers, it will focus on social science; and for any other subject teachers, they can choose either mathematics and science or social science.
For child development and pedagogy and the subject-specific section, candidates must select the medium of the question paper as either Tamil or English.
