The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has begun the registration process for the Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination 2026. Eligible candidates can apply through the official UPSC website at upsc.gov.in. The last date to submit online applications is March 3, 2026.
A total of 44 vacancies will be filled through this recruitment drive.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the IES/ISS Examination 2026 must be at least 21 years old and not more than 30 years of age as on August 1, 2026. This means applicants should have been born not earlier than August 2, 1996, and not later than August 1, 2005. Age relaxation will be applicable as per government norms for reserved categories.

Application Fee
Female candidates and those belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are exempted from paying the application fee.
All other candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs 200. The fee can be paid through net banking, credit or debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay), or UPI.
Selection Process
The selection process for the IES/ISS Examination 2026 will be conducted in two stages:
- Part I: Written Examination
The written examination will carry a maximum of 1,000 marks and will be conducted on subjects specified in the official notification. Most papers will be of conventional essay type, while Statistics Paper I and Paper II will be objective type. - Part II: Interview
Candidates shortlisted from the written examination will be called for an interview carrying 200 marks.
