The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a notification announcing changes to the CUET PG 2026 examination process. Candidates appearing for the postgraduate entrance test will now be allowed to select up to four examination city choices within their state of permanent or present residence.
This marks a shift from previous years, giving students more flexibility in managing travel and logistical requirements on exam day. The change applies to all candidates registering for CUET PG 2026.
In its notification, NTA said, “To provide greater flexibility to students, candidates will be permitted to select up to four examination city choices within the state of their permanent or present residence, subject to the availability of examination cities.
Candidates who have already submitted their application forms will be given an opportunity to exercise or update their additional examination city choices during the correction window from January 18 to January 20.”
Earlier, NTA reduced the total number of exam cities for CUET PG 2026. The number has been brought down from 312 to 292. Of these, 272 are in India and 16 are located abroad.
Registrations for CUET PG 2026 are currently open and will close on January 14, 2026. Candidates can apply online at exams.nta.nic.in/cuet-pg or nta.ac.in.
After the application deadline, the correction window from January 18 to 20 will allow changes in exam city choices and other details. The exam is scheduled to be held in March 2026.
Meanwhile, candidates preparing for CUET UG have been advised to keep certain documents ready.
These include an updated Aadhaar card with correct personal details, a valid and updated UDID card or disability certificate for candidates with disabilities, and valid category certificates for EWS, SC, ST or OBC-NCL applicants.
Clearing CUET PG allows students to apply for postgraduate programmes at Central Universities, State Universities, private institutions, Deemed Universities and other participating institutions for the 2026–27 academic session.
NTA has urged all applicants to review the notification carefully and make necessary corrections during the allotted window.
