The University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, has opened applications for its Master of Research (MRes) in Mathematical Sciences, commencing in September 2025. This intensive, research-oriented postgraduate course is designed for students aspiring to pursue a career in research or further academic study.
The one-year full-time programme focuses on developing advanced research capabilities through an extended independent research project, guided by experienced faculty. It is particularly tailored for students planning to undertake PhD studies or explore research and development roles in industries or research institutions.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must possess a first-class or upper second-class UK Honours degree, or an equivalent international qualification, in a subject related to mathematical sciences. Proficiency in English is essential, with a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall and no individual component below 5.5.
Fees and Financial Aid
For the academic year 2025–26, the international tuition fee is £23,100 (approximately ₹27.03 lakh). However, the Faculty of Science is offering an automatic international scholarship of £5,000 to eligible MRes applicants. This amount will be deducted directly from the tuition fees.
Scholarship Conditions
To qualify, students must enrol in the September 2025 intake and fulfil all eligibility conditions. The scholarship cannot be deferred or transferred and is non-applicable to fully sponsored candidates from embassies or government bodies. Each student is entitled to only one scholarship per academic year, and the university’s decision on awards is final.
Applications for the scholarship close on 30 September 2025. A separate application is not required, as eligible candidates will be considered automatically upon admission.
This opportunity positions the MRes in Mathematical Sciences as an ideal pathway for those looking to deepen their research expertise and advance in academia or research-driven careers.
