The Republic of Slovenia has announced scholarships for Indian students for the 2026–2027 academic year, offering an opportunity to pursue higher education in Europe through a structured mobility programme. The scholarship provides a tuition fee waiver for a minimum duration of three months and for up to ten months, depending on the selected programme.
Interested candidates can apply through the official portal, studyinslovenia.si. The application process is being administered by the Centre of the Republic of Slovenia for Mobility and European Educational and Training Programmes (CMEPIUS). The deadline for submission of applications is March 20, 2026.
To be eligible, applicants must first secure an acceptance letter from a host institution in Slovenia, which is mandatory to initiate the scholarship process. Indian students are also required to arrange the appropriate visa or residence permit and must be prepared to furnish any additional documentation requested by the authorities during evaluation.
Application Process
Applicants should begin by checking with the international relations office of their home institution to confirm whether an Erasmus+ bilateral agreement exists with the chosen Slovenian host institution. Once such an agreement is confirmed, students can proceed with their mobility application through their home institution.
As part of the documentation, students must prepare a Learning Agreement for study mobility or a Training Agreement for internships. Academic and administrative staff applying under the programme are required to submit a Mobility Agreement for teaching or training. These documents are essential and must be finalised before the start of the mobility period.
Other Study Options in Slovenia
Apart from long-term study programmes, Indian students can also consider summer schools and short-term courses in Slovenia. Several Slovenian universities offer internationally recognised summer programmes across disciplines. One popular option is the Summer School of Slovene Language, which allows participants to learn the local language while experiencing Slovenia’s culture, landscapes, and academic environment.
With a growing international education ecosystem and a student-friendly approach, Slovenia continues to position itself as an attractive study destination for Indian students seeking European exposure during the 2026–27 academic year.
