In an effort to support the increasing interest in climate technology interventions, this partnership aims to provide resources for experts, researchers, and students, enabling them to contribute to shaping future climate policy actions.
Over the duration of the five-year grant, IIT Delhi will appoint an academic with significant contributions to climate sciences and technology, thereby expanding the existing talent pool in this field from the Global South. In addition to the Chair, IIT-D will host two climate-centric gatherings over the next five years, bringing together experts from the Global South to discuss the latest advancements in addressing climate change.
Prof. Naresh Bhatnagar, Dean (R&D), IIT Delhi declared that they are delighted to collaborate with The Rockefeller Foundation in a mission of establishing a Chair Professorship for Climate Sciences and Technology. He also mentioned that climate change stands as one of the defining challenges of the 21st century, and IIT Delhi, with its significant and expanding involvement in climate science, innovation, and policy, is well-positioned to contribute in addressing this formidable challenge. They are confident that this partnership with The Rockefeller Foundation will play a crucial role in enhancing their research-driven climate action initiatives, both within and beyond the boundaries of IIT Delhi.
