Karnataka’s Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education is less than other south Indian states. The state government will be introducing new measures to encourage students for Higher Education. C. Shikha, Director of Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE), said that her department would soon begin drives to continue II PU students to continue with their education.
GER of Karnataka is 26.5%, much lower than Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Kerala. Additional Chief Secretary, T.M. Vijay Bhaskar in a meeting with the heads of different departments said, “We found that the low pass percentage in II PU exam one of the reasons that prevented students from joining degree colleges,” Another setback was de-recognition of the Karanataka State Open University.
