On February 6 2019, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has inaugurated the Robert Bosch Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (RBC-DSAI) in the institution.
This centre will be investing Rs 20 crore in the coming five years which aims to work on multifaceted associations with government, academic, research and industrial collaborators on crucial challenges in Data Science (DS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The centre will be involved in research in the areas like deep learning, reinforcement learning, network analysis, interpretable machine learning and domain aware AI.
Mr. B. Ravindran, faculty at IIT-Madras who heads RBC-DSAI, has stated that, “The centre, in addition to fundamental research, will create a portal of curated India-specific data sets that are easy to access and interpret through a set of open tools and interfaces.”
IIT-Madras has the largest Deep Reinforcement Learning group in India as claimed by RBC-DSAI. Deep Reinforcement Learning is the new revolution in the AI.
The main purpose is to improve the scientific innovation for the benefit of society as said by Bhaskar Ramamurthi, director, IIT Madras.
