The Medical Council of India, known by the acronym of MCI, declares a gazette notification extending the NEET validity to three years.
According to the MCI Gazette notification, “the result of NEET shall be valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of declaration of result, entitling a candidate to pursue MBBS or equivalent medical course including pre-medical/language course, if any, followed by MBBS or equivalent medical course.”
The notification also read the regulation “shall come into force from the date of publication in the official Gazette”, which is March 14, 2019.
The move shall affect a lot of students as the student count taking the NEET exam is substantially large. Last year, 2018 saw nearly 13.36 lakh candidates applying for the exam. Out of that 5, 80, 648 were males and 7, 46,076 were females.
Background of NEET
NEET is the prominent entrance exam in India for students wanting to take up the courses of MBBS, MD, MS and dental courses like BDS & MDS. The entrance test in conducted by National testing Agency and provides the results to the Directorate General of Health Services.
NEET 2019
The upcoming exam of NEET 2019 will be held on Sunday, May 5th and results will be declared on Wednesday, June 5th.
