The bill to ban e-cigarettes in India has gone to the next step where it has been put in public domain for feedback. The consultation draft of the Bill has been placed for comments.
As per the reports, the Union health ministry is planning to introduce a Bill in the forthcoming session of Parliament.
To give a background, Government promulgated an Ordinance namely-“Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes (Production, Manufacture, Import, Export, Transport, Sale, distribution, storage and Advertisement) Ordinance 2019 on 18th September’ 2019′.
According to the Ordinance, the production, manufacture, import, export, transport, sale, distribution, storage and advertisement is a cognizable offence, leading to jail term and fine.
Also, the violators will face a jail term of up to one year and a fine of ₹1 lakh.
