Nine new private universities shall begin in Telangana with the onset of new academic year. Of 13 proposals received by different institutions, the state govt body approved 9 of them.
The 9 approved institutions are Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology, Gurunanak Institute of Technology, Anurag Engineering College, Malla Reddy Engineering College, SR Engineering College, Mahindra Ecole Centrale, Woxen School of Business, National Institution of Construction Management & Research (NICMAR) and MNR Group of Educational Institutions.
A letter of intent has been issued to all the institutions.
All the universities will offer multi-disciplinary courses in Engineering, management, construction, design and others.
Following the issue of letter of intent, the govt has now asked the sponsoring bodies to submit compliance report within a period of 6 months.
As per Telangana State Private University Act, 2018 these institutions must have a corpus fund of 10 crore at the time of commencement of university and Rs 30 crore in the form of fixed deposits for a period of three years.
Currently, Telangana has nine state universities, two deemed universities, three central and five autonomous universities. With this add-on there might be more in number.
