Earlier this week, in a lawsuit filed, former Google engineer Loretta Lee states that the company’s ‘bro culture’ led to her regular sexual harassment and discrimination by male colleagues. Unfortunately, Google did nothing to resolve.
The tech giant is being sued by the employee over her termination, sexual harassment, and gender discrimination. Lee further states that she was subject to ‘lewd comments, pranks, and even physical violence’ on a daily basis. She even confessed that one of her male colleagues asked her for a ‘horizontal hug’ and that another slapped her across the face while he was drunk.
The most unpleasant situation for her was complaining to HR only made things worse. In a statement, Google spokesperson Ty Shepperd said, “We have strong policies against harassment in the workplace and review every complaint we receive. We take action when we find violations — including termination of the employee.”
The Department of Justice is investigating in the matter, and it is currently the subject of a class-action lawsuit brought by several female former employees who said they were discriminated against them too because of their gender.
According to some of the media reports, Google employees are being harassed for discussing diversity. The company is also facing another lawsuit brought by former employee James Damore of anti-diversity memo fame, saying Google discriminates against white men.
