ISRO’s GSLV-F11, carrying the 2,250kg GSAT-7A, lifted off at 4.10 pm on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from the second launch pad at Sriharikota, situated about 110 km from Chennai, and placed the communication satellite into its intended orbit about 19 minutes after lift-off.
The satellite will connect all IAF assets like planes, air-borne early warning control platforms, drones and ground stations, building a centralised network. Along with GSAT-7 and GSAT-6, this new satellite, dubbed the “Indian Angry Bird”, will form the band of communications satellite for use of Indian military.
